Mumbai Police arrest underworld gangster Ezaz Lakdawala

MUMBAI: In a major achievement, Mumbai Police arrested underworld gangster Ezaz Lakdawala of Chhota Rajan faction on late Wednesday from Patna.
Lakdawala’s arrest comes on the heels of his daughter Sonia Lakdawala alias Sonia Shaikh’s arrest a fortnight ago at Mumbai International Airport, while she was trying to fly out of the country on forged passport. She was likely to go to Nepal and from there to UAE.

“His daughter is in our custody. She gave a lot of information to us. Our sources also told us about his arrival in Patna, he was arrested from Jattanpur police station limits in Bihar,” said joint CP crime, Santosh Rastogi.

Ezaz Lakdawala is wanted in several extortion cases in Mumbai, Delhi and other parts of the country. In 2003 there were rumours that Ezaz was killed by Dawood gang member as he had secretly joined hands with rival gangster Chhota Rajan. However he later quit Rajan and started his own extortion gang and randomly kept threatening builders, hoteliers and film personalities. In 2016 the crime branch had arrested Ezaz’s brother Akhil alias Merchant and cousin Sameer Lakdawala in connection with extortion case.
